Hello Yellow – World Mental Health Day

Friday 10th October is World Mental Health Day; we are joining Young Minds and inviting you to wear something yellow!

Please don’t go out and buy anything special (it isn’t a non-uniform day).  You can wear an item of yellow clothing or wear a yellow bow, socks or even make your own badge to wear!

If you would like to donate to this charity, here is their website: https://www.youngminds.org.uk/

At Green Top, we place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and heard. Our culture of crew underpins this commitment, giving all children a voice and fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness across our school. Through our crew curriculum and focus on key character traits, we help our children develop kindness, compassion, and the confidence to share their thoughts and feelings openly. We also recognise the powerful role that creativity and movement play in wellbeing — our vibrant culture of the arts and active learning nurtures both emotional and physical health. Together, these elements create a happy, supportive environment where both children and staff can thrive.

Year 3: RE – Why do Jews celebrate Pesach?

Author Profile

Claire Dutton

In our Religious Education session this week, we continued our learning about Moses and the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. We learned about their hurried meal of lamb and a flat bread called matzah, and we found out that the Jewish faith remembers and celebrates this important time in their religion via the holiday of Passover (or, Pesach in Hebrew). To consolidate our learning, we sorted reasons for the Exodus into True and False … luckily, we weren’t caught out by any of the red herrings!

We have really been enjoying learning all about the stories of the Jewish religion, why not ask us about how the Jews were told to protect their first born sons from the tenth plague of Egypt?

This week in phonics Miss Schön and Miss Rodgers group have been learning /ie/ ‘Tie your tie’.

Ou® new red words or Mr, Mrs, work, can’t and class.

We have been reading the book ‘Let’s Sort it Out’. We have discussed the the vocabulary and the meaning of different words and phrases.

We now know 2 differerent /ie/ sounds

/igh/ as in high, light and bright – We know that the igh sound is only Followed by a ‘t‘

/ie/ as in tie, cries and lied

We have also learned that words can end in il and al make just a ‘l‘ sound at the end of a word

Don’t forget to practice as often as possible so that you can beat your ‘word count per minute’ scores!

Well done to our Y5/6 footballers who took part in our first Legacy competition of the year yesterday. Despite their great effort throughout the tournament we lost out 1-0 in the quarter finals. Well done boys!
