Class 8: Martin Luther King research lesson

A Shaw

Today, class 8 used fact sheets to find out information about Martin Luther King and his life. We then made anchor charts and the children transferred them into sentences. I was really pleased with all of the children, but especially Adam for really trying to improve his presentation!

What a great day we have had today. We have had a cheerleading session, a music session using the drum sticks and baseball available during lunch time. We would like to thank the dinner staff for making such a delicious lunch too! Well done Dominik for being our lunch time winner because he had the tray with a sticker on…and on his birthday too! Well done guys!

The children have had a wonderful time today celebrating our American-themed day! They thoroughly enjoyed their themed lunch, choosing between delicious chicken burgers or classic hotdogs, followed by a sweet treat of chocolate brownies and mini donuts – a real hit all around!

In Reception, the fun started early with some lively dancing in the hall led by Mrs Rayner, which got everyone moving and smiling. Later on, we had a fantastic musical session with Mr Pickles, who truly rocked it on the guitar! The children had a brilliant time joining in, playing along enthusiastically with their drumsticks.

It’s been a day full of energy, laughter, and great memories!

A huge thank you to nursery for allowing us down yesterday to come and see the two piglets that Miss Myers kindly brought in from her farm to enhance the nursery children’s learning this week. The children showed great care for the Pickles’s and enjoyed spending time with them and giving them a little stroke. The little piglet was so comfortable he even took a little nap.

The children enjoyed this week’s Hindu story of the 6 blind men and the elephant. The message of the story was that the truth can be seen in different ways because all of the blind men thought that the elephant looked differently. They had a go at the quiz and even took turns to wear a blindfold and guess what the object was that they were holding. Another fantastic discussion was had about truth and integrity. Well done class 8!
