Our faith day learning for Autumn 2 has been all about Christmas time and how different faiths might spend this time, even if they don’t celebrate in the Christian way. We learnt about the history of Christmas and some of the traditions we all know and love, such as Christmas trees and carols.

We found out about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah which happens close to Christmas and we discovered that Muslims don’t tend to partake in traditional Christmas celebrations but that they do enjoy other celebrations throughout the year, such as Eid.

The one common theme that came through all of our learning today, however, was that Christmas – whether you hold a Christian worldview or not – is a great time to show love and kindness to one another and to spend quality time with our loved ones.

Children demonstrated their learning by drawing pictures of their own family’s traditions, which they then shared with their friends. And, we even had time to enjoy watching The Snowman – a Christmas Eve tradition from Mrs Dutton’s family.
